In addition to repealing Prohibition, the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution grants states the authority to regulate the sale, distribution, and transportation of alcohol. Increasingly, this essential state authority to protect the public has been coming under attack by powerful economic interests seeking deregulation in the name of higher profits. Big Box retailers, alcohol producers, and other industry players are attempting to dismantle state laws that regulate alcohol sales.
Alcohol Justice's State Control campaign aims to help maintain the right of states to protect public health through sound alcohol regulation.
