Tell the CA Assembly: Vote NO (Again) to STOP the Dangerous 3 a.m. Bar Bill

scott wiener only has one thing in his head--extending bar hours
Last fall SB 58 - Sen. Wiener's 3rd attempt to impose a dangerous patchwork quilt of last call regulations on California - was definitively defeated on the Assembly Floor. However, the bill's authors have asked for "Reconsideration" which allows one more bite at this rotten apple. Simply tell them to vote as they did before & STOP SB 58 for good.

Data show that extending last call times increases a drinker's overall consumption, adds fatigue to dangerous driving, and lets cities avoid responsibility for the harms they will inflict on neighboring "Splash Zone" cities and towns.

Please do not allow another attempt to disrupt the protections of a uniform, statewide last call.

California cannot afford the physical, emotional, or financial costs for more alcohol-related violence, emergency room admissions, injuries, alcohol-impaired driving, and motor vehicle crashes.

Tell the California Assembly, Senator Wiener has already had three strikes against his bill - It is really, most finally, OUT!

The data on extending last call is clear:

  • State Senator Scott Wiener's SB 58 is a dangerous ten-city, five-year experiment that will make test subjects of 76% of California's population.
  • Extending last call times increases a drinker's overall consumption and adds fatigue to dangerous driving.
  • A hodgepodge of last call "Entertainment Zones" will send dangerously intoxicated drivers into the surrounding suburbs.
  • The party city gets the tax revenue while the outlying "Splash Zone" communities get to scrub blood off the highway.

TAKE ACTION - Tell the California Assembly to vote as it did before & STOP SB 58 for good.
