Programs every Monday and Thursday.
Whether you’re passionate about making a difference or simply want to cultivate a healthier lifestyle, we’d love for you to join NextGen Youth Advocates™!
NextGen Youth Advocates™ holds weekly programs in which youth of the community come as they are, get assistance with homework, and participate in prosocial activities. From English and Math tutoring, to our ‘Advocacy Mondays’, we foster a safe environment where kids learn to work hard and play hard. We bring youth the tools to succeed and reward them for investing in their schoolwork, community, and health.
Our students range from 3rd to 11th grade enrolees at Bahia Vista Elementary, Miller Creek Middle School, Davidson Middle School, Novato High School and San Rafael High School. We are actively growing and expanding our reach throughout Marin County to give students the opportunity to learn how to advocate for issues that are important to them and impact their community.

At NextGen Youth Advocates™, we empower the next generation to become engaged, healthy leaders in their communities. The free program meets biweekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 3PM to 6PM, giving young people the chance to
develop a well-rounded skill set—from advocacy and policy change to organic gardening and personal wellness. Each program day starts with interactive workshops on leadership and youth advocacy training, followed by hands-on
healthy lifestyle activities. We also have special events like our monthly Canal Beautification Day and Community Garden Day.
Our Canal Beautification Day gives youth an opportunity to actively participate in cleaning up their local environment. This program focuses on improving San Rafael
spaces such as parks, streets and local retailers by removing trash, recycling materials, and raising awareness about environmental prevention.
Dive into the world of organic gardening through our Community Garden Days! During these monthly sessions, youth get hands-on experience working in the
program’s 12 raised garden beds filled with organic vegetables, fruits and herbs. Students learn gardening skills as they plant, grow and harvest the crops. They also
explore topics like food equity and sustainability. At the end of each growing season the fresh produce is given away to the local Canal neighborhood through community
events.
On the second Sunday of every month, students come together for our Free Our Sports Sunday – a safe, celebratory space to watch games, recognize achievements, and enjoy a homemade meal.
